The day after Thanksgiving, we took off for our annual Christmas tree hunt. The local nurseries, which there are many in Wyckoff and surrounding towns, have trees galore. Olivia staked out a tree early on and would not leave its' side.
I'm always surprised at how resourceful the kids are with the Christmas tree. I love the look of Christmas in our house, but I have a mental shutdown when it comes to decorating. This is how it goes: Dave lights the outside, we both get the tree in the house and in the stand, Dave lights it, the kids put all the decorations on the tree (as they discuss when they made some of the decorations and reminisce) and I put the stockings, candles and other decorations up in the house. Of course, I have to blast Christmas music while we are all doing this. It's a tradition.
We can't forget the candy canes. They do not last long on our tree:-)
Christmas list for Santa....Zach loves to sign his name in cursive (especially since he isn't scheduled to learn cursive until later in his 2nd grade year!). He does the same with multiplication. Go Zach!
Olivia's list...dominated by Breyer horses.
A lovely surprise the day we return to school after Thanksgiving....snow! The kids had a quick play before leaving for school Monday morning.
It snowed all day, I had a raging sore throat, so it was the perfect reason to stay home, rest, watch movies and watch the snow fall all day. Wyckoff made sure the roads were safe:-)
